Wycombe High School was founded in 1901 with eighteen pupils. It's archives – now with over six thousand items in the catalogues - provide a continuous record of girls’ state secondary education from that year to the present. They also include records from Lady Verney High School which combined with Wycombe High School in 1993.
The WHS Archives were formally established in 2008-9 thanks to a grant from the English Heritage Lottery Fund, which enabled the school to employ an archivist for one year. The Archives are now run by volunteers from the WHS Guild, which was established in 1910 with the aims of promoting and maintaining fellowship and union between students and staff and to continue the school’s tradition of service to the community.
